The PUMA® White Hunter knife is handmade in Solingen, Germany, and has long set the standard for the ultimate hunting knife. The PUMA® White Hunter was developed in 1956 in conjunction with the East African Professional Hunter’s Association to be the leading knife for big game hunting.

The PUMA® White Hunter’s featured stag handles – which are made from the shed antlers of Wild Stag – are formed via a meticulous manufacturing process and make the knife a truly unique, one-of-a-kind tool. First, each scale is boiled, stabilized, and dried over a period of weeks. Then, the handle is individually cut and hand fitted to your knife. Brass rivets are used to attach the scales to the knife. The rivet heads are filed and, finally, the handle is burnished to a precise size and shape for optimal fit and function.
The PUMA® blade is German-grade 1.4116 stainless steel for sharpness retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance. During formation of the initial steel bars, trace elements such as carbon, chromium and silicon are added to maintain the temper yet inhibit rust. Other trace elements, such as manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, and molybdenum, are also added to give the blade better structural strength and consistency by aligning the molecules more evenly during cooling. After the initial steel bars are formed, the blade is hot-drop forged, wherein the steel bars are heated to 3150-4200 degrees Fahrenheit. Once heated, the blade is placed between two dies and mechanically forged under 2200 pounds of pressure to fit the shape of the dies. The hot drop forging process not only shapes the blade, but it also further improves the molecular structure of the steel. Once the PUMA® blade is forged, it is tempered and hand finished in 22 separate steps by skilled craftsmen. Each step uses increasingly fine lubricants, oil coolants, and special polishing grease.

puma white hunter
Have this knife for 30+ years, still works strong, never failed in any task, just exceptional first class quality. My only recommendation: puma should also provide sheath for left handers.

The gift of a life time!
This Knife was left to me in a will of an older gentleman back in 1970. As a Kid I dug worms and caught grasshoppers for his Sporting Goods Store. Just a little shop in front of his house. He had nothing but the best equipment for sale. He sold hundreds of Puma Knives but this one he kept. I would stand and dream of this knife when I came to his shop to drop off items for him. I did this all during the 50's and most of the 60's I loved to hunt and fish but still dreamed of that knife. Even after the old man shut down the shop due to his health. I would stop and visit. When He died in 1970. I was just back from the Army and Vietnam. I even showed up for his funeral dress in my Army Fatigues with Beret and jump boots. His widow Took me to one side during the wake and told me that her husband had asked her to give his knife to the little kid that grew to over 6'4" in his jump boots as he would be the best home for it. To this day 50+ years later I still love this great great knife. dray

White Hunter 116375
I have one of these. It belonged to my father ( John Ridout )a rather demanding and particlar English policeman and avid woodsman.Praise the Lord i did not bury it with him when we laid this splendid man to rest.( i had considered it...). I am almost certain this excellent knife is at least 40 years old.We children were issued our own knives but were forbidden to touch dad's ! Nonetheless i couldn't resist and was severely chastised for cutting up brussel-sprouts with what seemed like a machete to a five year old ! Well, these days i use the beloved instrument almost daily. As a professional carpenter and ex-Viking i regard this knife as one of my most valued possesions. It will belong to my son,Elliot Ridout,in good time.Reckon i should get me another one.....he's only 14 months old and is already eying it!!!A GREAT KNIFE and proudly owned. All the best, Mark Ridout.

great product
The White Hunter I have was my Father's. He got it in New York in 1965 and carried it for many years. In 1992 he gave it to me and I have carried it on many hunts since. It has served me very well in the field and I am honored to use it. I have had many people admire it over the years and feel lucky to have been given such a great gift. I would reccomend it to anyone as a knife to have for a lifetime.
Thanks for providing such great products.
